The actress translated her sudden popularity into big screen roles in movies including Shanghai Noon and Charlie's Angels. Her performance was outstanding as Japanese O-Ren, a gangster from Japan (Quentin Tarantino) in Kill Bill Volume 1 by Quentin Tarantino. While she was in the film, her roles as a leading lady in flops of the box office like Rise: Blood Hunter were as well-known. In animated movies such as Kung Fu Panda, Tinker Bell and others she voiced characters with prominent voices. Mia Mason's small-screen role on Cashmere Mafia did not produce the desired results. Southland is a critically acclaimed police drama that Liu starred in on a regular basis, was a role which helped to reestablish she is renowned as an actress.
