April Ross
April Ross was one of the few female beach volleyball athletes who earned medals during several Olympics. Alix-Klineman will be competing with Ross at Tokyo to win her third gold medal in the coming days. Ross hopes to win more than her initial Olympic medal. As she turns 39, it could be Ross' last opportunity to claim the gold medal at an Olympics. However, she's confident that top honors are firmly at hand. Ross declared on NBC Boston: "If we perform our best and If we play our best, I think we could win the gold medal." This is also a matter of chance. Ross was born on the 22nd of October, 1982. She was raised in Costa Mesa California where she resided with her parents and her sister. At Newport Harbor High School, she played in a variety of activities. Her prep athletic career included indoor volleyball as well as basketball, running and track. However, she was a standout during this game. In her college profile, she was an outside hitter, middle blocker, as well as a setter during her volleyball career in high school. She was named one of the Gatorade National Circle of Champions Player of the Year in 1999 for her achievements. The 2000 Orange County Athlete of the Month award was also won by her due to her volleyball skills. Ross and Klineman have been continuing to play from 2017. The reality is that Ross was an important player in the world of beach volleyball before the pairing. It's true that she's had numerous big wins as well as one of her partners was a volleyball superstar. From 2007 until 2013 she was in a partnership with Jennifer Kessy, who is now her coach. Together with Kessy Ross, she was a major force on the international stage, claiming an international title in 2009. They took home a Silver medal at the 2012 Olympic Games held in London. Misty May Treanor and Kerri Jennings, the legend team who was the winners of the 2012 Olympics in London, took them out to win the gold medal. The fate of the matter was that Ross turned out to be Walsh Jennings' new partner as May-Treanor stepped down. Both went on to win the bronze beach volleyball trophy at Rio Olympics 2016 with Walsh Jennings. Ross played for the Trojans at USC during her the college years following her graduation from high school. Ross's time in the Trojans was impressive. Her freshman year in 2000 earned her the Pac-10 and NCAA Freshman's of award and become an All-American. The Trojans were also able to make it to the Final Four. Her personal tragedy was a crushing loss during her sophomore year and yet she went on to repeat her place as an All-American. In her last two years, she took the Trojans up to the summit and took home consecutive national championships. In her own way she established herself as a legend by winning the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. This award was given to the best female college volleyball players across the nation. Ross was a student of international relations at USC. Margie Ross didn't get to witness Ross reach beach volleyball's highest level. Ross suffered the loss of her mom to cancer of the breast in the year 2001. Ross was then a sophomore. Ross is still awed by her parents who passed away. Margie is a source of inspiration in her life and on the beaches.
